This is a personal journal. I love food… not only eating it, but preparing it. Making a meal and sharing it with others is one of the greatest pleasures in life. Food brings us together and allows us to share a moment in a way that few things can.
Why focus on one ingredient at a time? Cooking at its core starts with basic ingredients. Some more basic than others, but there is a lot more to an ingredient than meets the eye. Knowing how to select it, store it, use it and combine it can make all the difference in flavor, texture and color of your food. As with a lot of things, the devil is in the details. Cooking is not the exception. If you want to take your cooking to the next level, you need to know your ingredients better. This is my quest to learn about them.
